Job Description
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor''s in safety management, Safety Science, Safety Engineering, etc. or similar is required.



QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES

• 3-4 years’ experience in a Safety Specialist or Manager role: Safety Management, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineer

• Familiarity with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standards and the GHS (Global Harmonization Standard) is a plus

• Knowledge in Job Hazard Analysis

• Knowledge in Life Safety Core Compliance items such as LOTO, Walking Working Surfaces, Industrial Hygiene, Etc.

• Knowledge in Behavior Based Safety is a plus

• CSP or other designation preferred but not required



POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose for this contractor position is to maintain the health, safety and environmental performance, personnel, contractors, and visitors by maintaining compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations as mandated by Federal, State, and local agencies. Help to implement local programs and initiatives that will help the Indianola plant site achieve established safety and health goals, objectives and support programs of the HSE department.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure policies, procedures, equipment, and training are available and in place to ensure compliance with all OSHA and EPA regulations as well as corporate reporting requirements and industry best practices.

• Lead the development and implementation of an upgraded HSE management system

• Maintain accident prevention programs; lead incident investigations when incidents do occur, and drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce reoccurrences.

• Develop and deliver various employee and contractor HSE related trainings.

• Perform and document Job Hazard Analysis, equipment safety reviews, and other similar processes to identify and mitigate risks. Develop administrative and engineering controls to maintain regulatory compliance and minimize HSE risk.

• Participate with cross functional teams and/or project specific groups assigned to drive changes.

• Collect, analyze, and submit data necessary to support the BaySIS extra-financial reporting systems, as well as support the communication of HSE related performance within the site and Product Supply organizations.

• Take part in various inspection activities related to facilities, machinery and safety equipment on a scheduled basis to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Report and follow-up on actions identified to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.

• Perform and/or assist with creation and coordination of site emergency response and site evacuation programs.
