Job Description
Education Requirement:

* Bachelor''s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent



Required Skills/Attributes:

* Experience with power system analysis studies including power flow and short-circuit analysis

* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio



Desired Skills/Attributes:

* Experience with generation interconnection studies including power flow and short-circuit analysis

* Experience performing technical reviews of Net Energy Metering (NEM) projects

* Knowledge of the Rule 21 Tariff and the WDAT

* Experience Google Earth Pro and power system analysis software (preferably CYME and CAPE)

* Experience with PCI



Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload:

* Perform review of Generation Interconnection Requests, under the WDAT and Rule 21 Tariff, ensuring technical data is complete and appropriate to perform a study

* Review will also include Rule 21 or WDAT screens’ evaluation to determine if further studies are required

* Studies vary depending on the interconnection request and screens’ evaluation results and may include power flow, short-circuit duty, voltage analysis, and any other relevant technical analysis needed to enable interconnection of the new resources ensuring safety and reliability is maintained

* May be required to create one-line diagrams, study reports, and review Generation Interconnection Agreements



More details of the day-to-day work include:

- Perform application review of the Interconnection Request ensuring technical data is complete and appropriate to perform a study. As part of this effort, it may be required to create one-line diagrams (Microsoft Visio) which are used in study agreements, study reports, and ultimately Generation Interconnection Agreements. Perform Rule 21 Fast Track Screens’ evaluation (or equivalent WDAT Screens).

- Projects will primarily consist of Net Energy Metering (NEM) applications, which fall under the Rule 21 Tariff.

- May also require evaluation of Supplemental Review Screens for projects that fail Fast Track Screens. Perform technical review to ensure project meets all applicable Tariff and Standards requirements.

- Validation of Rule 21 certification requirements may be required (e.g., UL 1741 SB).

- Technical assessment to evaluate the impact of interconnecting the generator to the system may include power flow and short-circuit analysis (primarily CYME, can involve CAPE).

- Develop scope to mitigate issues identified during the technical analysis.

- Produce study report, which may include the scope and cost of required upgrades that were identified during the technical review.

- Meet with customers to provide study results and address questions. Review Generation Interconnection Agreements to ensure technical details and scope needed to support interconnection is properly captured.
