Job Description
Education:
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in mechanical engineering

Required Qualifications:
• 6+ years’ work experience in complex electromechanical system in highly regulated R&D environment
• Extensive experience in designing for machined parts
• Experience in designing for compliance with IEC 60601, design for manufacturability, and design for serviceability
• Must have hands-on experience in design, assembly and testing of electro-mechanical systems
• Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Knowledge of industry best practices for development of complex electromechanical systems
• Demonstrated CAD proficiency highly in SolidWorks and PDM
• Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis tools
• Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECOs
• Develop production and support documentation including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions
• Able to execute assigned projects and duties with minimum supervision
• Outstanding documentation and communication skills required
• Proficiency in using MS Office required

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in casted and molded parts is a plus
• Medical device design and development experience is highly desired

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Hardware Design (HW) will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare. You will be a highly visible technical resource working on development of complex electro-mechanical systems. There will be direct involvement from prototype to verification builds and testing within a regulated medical device development environment. This role is suited for a senior-level R&D engineer with experience in developing complex electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead designing complex mechanical systems from concept to validation
• Implement Computer-aided design (CAD) best practices including master sketch/modeling and model base design (MBD)
• Create 2D mechanical and electrical (cable) drawings by using GD&T where it is needed
• Maintain disciplined test, configuration control, documentation, and management processes throughout
• Creation of 2D/3D drawings with working knowledge of ASME drafting standards including GD&T (Y14.5-2018)
• Support a variety of multi-disciplinary technical and process improvement projects of different sizes and scopes
• Help with the vendor communications and procurement issues
• Manage and communicate assigned projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams
