Job Description
Summary

Client Health IT Team seeking an experienced Epic Beaker Application Analyst to support the operational and implementation needs of the hosted UC Berkeley Beaker application, with a focus on Clinical Pathology workflows.

This role will be responsible for configuring and optimizing application workflows for specimen testing by UC Berkeley staff and for testing conducted by Client Health for UC Berkeley Student Health patients.

The analyst will also design and configure interfaces in accordance with the hosting agreement and develop both operational and regulatory reports. Charge configurations will be completed in collaboration with the appropriate billing teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Epic Beaker modules and workflows, along with strong application build skills.

The analyst will work closely with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and smooth post-go-live support.

Expertise in coordinating all aspects of Epic Beaker setup and optimization is essential for this role.



Required Technical Experience



Epic Certifications:

• Must hold current Epic certifications for Beaker Clinical Pathology (required).

• Beaker Anatomic Pathology certification (preferred).

• Additional Epic certifications in Epic Bridges Bugsy and EpicCare modules (preferred).

Experience & Expertise:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Epic Beaker implementations.

• Extensive experience designing clinical laboratory and pathology workflows to optimize laboratory information systems.

• Proven expertise in Epic Beaker, EpicCare, and third-party vendor integrations.

• Hands-on experience testing clinical laboratory information systems, either as an analyst or subject matter expert.

• Familiarity with HL7 standards for device integration and data exchange.

• Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving issues with laboratory instruments and devices.

Leadership & Communication:

• Ability to serve as a technical leader and guide clinical users and management on strategies to improve quality, efficiency, and functionality of clinical information systems.

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to clinical users and staff.



Responsibilities



Application Build & Configuration:

• Develop Beaker functionality to support workflows from specimen collection to test results.

• Propose and configure workflows, process improvements, system designs, and development to support the needs of laboratory staff.

• Configure and optimize Epic Beaker functionalities, including specimen labels, receiving activities, and reporting components.

• Maintain documentation for configurations, capturing current and future state designs.

• Ensure all configurations comply with regulatory standards and lab operations best practices.

Training and Documentation:

• Collaborate with the training team to develop training materials and FAQs for end-users.

• Produce clear and effective training documentation to support user education and competency.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Develop and execute testing strategies, including functional, integrated, and regression tests.

• Conduct testing on devices such as Rover to ensure proper Epic integration.

• Monitor and troubleshoot system functionality and integration to ensure reliable operations.

• Document and resolve issues found during testing, ensuring effective solutions are implemented.

Go-live Support and Operational Stabilization:

• Provide post-go-live support, including monitoring system messages, orders, and results.

• Troubleshoot escalated issues related to clinical software and hardware.

• Ensure successful integration between Epic Beaker and third-party systems, documenting and addressing any service or support needs.

• Prepare and deliver ServiceNow documentation and hand-off materials to relevant teams.

Project Deliverables:

• Ensure successful implementation of Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology for UC Berkeley, ensuring real-time data capture and reporting.

• Provide comprehensive testing documentation, including plans, test cases, and results.

• Maintain operational integrations between third-party systems and Epic applications.

• Deliver training materials and ensure smooth user transition during the go-live phase.

Other Duties:

• Contribute to additional Beaker-related operational tasks and project initiatives as required.
