Description:

• Client is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Design to join our Surgical R&D team in Lake Forest, CA. You will be responsible for the development of components in a sub-system dictated by R&D as well as performing work and leading technical support staff for completing projects or tasks requested by the Simulation and Manufacturing team.



Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Assures project progress, resolves technical issues, and escalates when needed.

• 2. Design, develop, and document plastic, die cast, sheet metal, and machine components. And assemblies utilizing Creo Parametric 3D CAD software.

• 3. Create and manage products or sub-systems’ top-down skeleton-level architecture to ensure module interfaces and master models are in alignment with the Client development process.

• 4. Generating detailed fabrication drawings utilizing GD&T and mechanical tolerance analysis.

• 5. Recommends fabrication and additive manufacturing processes to meet R&D needs, specifically plastic, die casting, sheet metal, and machine component design.

• 6. Develop a network of external suppliers and internal resources within the department and across functions.

• 7. Perform fitment and DFM/A checks.

• 8. Ensures the integrity and quality of the Group’s output by establishing, maintaining, and enforcing Client standards, processes & procedures.

• 9. Identifies opportunities for improvement in group procedures, and leads initiatives aimed at continual improvement in the efficiency & effectiveness of the group.

• 10. Ensures engineering and company procedures are followed.

• 11. Mentors develop and train engineers and group personnel in the proper use of Creo Parametric CAD software and top-down design and master model methodologies.



Must haves,

• 1) Bachelor's Degree + 10-years minimum work experience

• 2) Proficient using 3D CAD software Creo Parametric modules: ISDX, Simulate, Pro-Process, Sheet Metal, Large tabulation / Family table set up, Mechanism, Pro-Process, including employing top-down design and master model methodology. SolidWorks is a plus.

• 3) Proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

• 4) Demonstrated experience and knowledge of materials and specifications for plastic, die casting, sheet metal, and machine parts.



• Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:



• 1. The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

• 2. Motivated self-starter. Proven ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

• 3. Working and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced R&D environment preferably in the medical device space.

• 4. Familiar with DRM and ANSI Y14.5 drawing standards for completing drawings for machine, plastic, sheet metal, and die-cast components, top-level assemblies, and module assemblies. Drawings for Cables and PCBAs are a plus.
