Job Description
The Project Manager Engineering role will be on our strategic capital side, managing more large complex projects, in the renewables space such as installing new, large equipment or systems that help us meet our future strategic goals.

Minimum Requirements
• Chemical/mechanical experience is required. In addition, at least 2 years of PM experience is required.
• 5-7 years' experience in project management and process improvement; some formal project management training preferred Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others, informal leadership experience and training skills preferred.
• Would also like to see some utility experience; oil and gas would be great as well.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills; excellent written/verbal communications skills required
• Understanding of core business processes/ industry trends with ability to interpret/apply ongoing changes.
• Would like to see some leadership experience/experience leading large teams, building morale, etc. Cross functional team experience within a large matrixed organization is a plus!

What does a typical day look like?
• Once projects are approved, the individuals would be responsible for verifying the justification and continued scoping of the project to make sure that all stakeholder’s needs are included in the project scope, determining if we need to hire consulting engineers to do any engineering for the projects for hiring contractors to perform the work, ordering material and equipment needed to execute the work. They would also be responsible for managing budget, Quality, safety, schedule.
• All aspects of a project, from cradle to grave, periodically overseeing work in the field.
• We have a construction management group that would be full time in the field, kind of helping oversee and these positions are more of a spot check, making sure things are occurring when they need to, interacting with plant operations to make sure that the needs of the plants are being met, working with our design group to make sure drawings are being properly documented, input in our system, doing shop inspections if needed for equipment that will eventually be shipped to the site.
• In addition, making sure the contract requirements are being followed by both engineering firms and contractors and equipment suppliers up through the closeout of the project and turn over to our operations group, who will be the ones who operate following turnover.
• A little caveat to that for the project manager position is we have a planning group for the large, major kind of strategic projects that plans and develops those projects for us and turns them over to execution.
• Most of the work is already done on those, and we're responsible for taking over all the documentation paperwork, managing of the contracts and everything from them, and then executing upon that work.

What is the size of the group this position will be supporting?
• They will be responsible for working with the many departments at the client to collaborate and bring the teams together.
• They may need to work with our siting and, our environmental group, definitely our sourcing group; getting contracts issued, project controls to assist with budget management and schedule development and meeting some of our reporting requirements with our capital asset accounting group, in addition to plant operations.
• The people that are actually out there running the facilities and then we have fleet engineering and Reliability engineering teams that we also work very, very closely with to make sure that we're purchasing and implementing standardized equipment and managing the reliability and operational needs of the both of those teams.
• These roles require someone who brings the teams together, who's a good communicator and can make sure these projects are executed successfully.

Position Summary:
• Standard Operations Position.
• Provide end-to-end project management, leadership and coordination for large complex projects or as a part of a transformational project work stream with responsibility for project scope, schedule, cost and risk management.
• Ensure alignment of financial and operational goals between projects and the business unit.
• Provide work team direction to achieve approved project scope, develop strategic sequencing and detailed milestone schedules, project-level cost tracking and reconciliation.
• Ensure availability or seek out adequate resources for projects.

Essential Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
• Function as project controller.
• Manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, and actuals tracking.
• Facilitate RFP and contract management processes.
• Review actuals versus planned budget throughout project life cycle to identify variances and recommend corrective action.
• Ensure timely project closure, payment and reconciliation.

Project Planning:
• Lead requirements gathering and planning process for approved projects while engaging all key stakeholders.
• Develop solution design that defines the entire project scope, and secure all required internal/external approvals.
• Ensure coordination with other initiatives, assuring dependencies are identified and addressed.
• Define deliverables and required delivery dates; develop viable work plans/WBS, milestone schedules, and project cost/benefit estimates.

Project Management:
• Independently manage detailed project plans to approved scope and provide cross-functional tracking as needed. Identify plan gaps and develop closure plans.
• Ensure the successful completion of assigned project deliverables & milestones in a dynamic/complex environment.

Resource Management:
• Manage resources, both internal and external.
• Manage assigned contracts and associated payments and performance requirements.
• Develop and adapt a comprehensive resource plan for a matrixed team of diverse talent to maximize skills and minimize cost.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced project team members.

Scope & Risk Management:
• Manage scope change request process for project.
• Identify risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle and create mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Relationship Management:
• Communicate project status to all levels of the organization.
• Establish effective, collaborative working relationships to maximize project efficiency, responsiveness and resource allocation.
