Job Description
Location: Remote (Onsite preferred: Seattle, WA or Cupertino, CA)



Experience Level: 5-15 years



We are looking for Software Engineers who have Python or Java expertise. Strong in coding. Iceberg, Spark and distributed systems/infrastructure experience is good to have.



We are not looking for Data Engineers.



Role Overview:

We are looking for highly skilled Data Infrastructure Engineers with strong expertise in big data processing, distributed systems, ML systems and software engineering. The ideal candidates should have hands-on experience in Apache Iceberg (preferred) or Apache Spark, along with proficiency in Python or Java for building scalable data solutions.



Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain scalable data infrastructure to support large-scale data processing.

· Work with Apache Iceberg (preferred) or Apache Spark to build and optimize data lakes and streaming pipelines.

· Write efficient, high-performance code in Python or Java for distributed systems.

· Design and implement distributed data systems for high availability, reliability, and performance.

· Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, ML and software engineers to build robust data solutions.

· Ensure data integrity, governance, and security within the infrastructure.

· Optimize query performance, storage efficiency, and data retrieval processes.



Technical Skills & Qualifications:

· Expertise in Apache Iceberg (preferred) OR strong proficiency in Apache Spark.

· Strong programming skills in Python or Java.

· Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed computing principles.

· Experience with cloud-based data solutions (AWS).

· Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databases, and data lake architectures.



Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience working with real-time and batch data processing.

· Prior experience in data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and optimize large-scale data workflows.

· Experience ensuring production readiness through robust CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, observability dashboards, and system reliability practices.
